An access log is a comprehensive list of all the files that were accessed by the visitors of a certain Internet site. Every file which was requested for some reason shall be listed, so if you have just one page with three embedded graphics, one video and one embedded text file, as an example, the access log will contain a total of six entries - one for any of the six files that were accessed when the website visitor opened the webpage. A log normally shows the file name and path, the date, along with the visitor’s OS, worldwide web browser and IP address. Oftentimes you could also find the referrer websites that sent the visitors to your website. The data which an access log file includes is in human-readable plain text format. It may be processed by special software on a PC and used to prepare reports on the efficiency of an Internet site, in addition to the web statistics that your hosting server may have generated.
Access Log Manager in Cloud Hosting
Our custom Hepsia CP has a section dedicated to various logs and the access logs are one of them. As you sign in to your cloud hosting account and take a look at this section, you shall find a list of all the domains and subdomains that you have. All it takes to allow the generation of access logs is to click on a button which will be available next to each domain/subdomain. In case the option is enabled, you shall see a download link along with the file size so far, so you'll be able to save the file to your computer and examine it or process it with some application. Enabling or disabling the logs takes effect right away, so if you don't require one, you may stop it with just a mouse click from the same exact section of the Control Panel. You will still have the ability to access the already created content by simply clicking on the Download link.
